Trenches carry the lines a property runs on: water, sewer, storm drains, power and irrigation. Price is mostly a matter of length, depth and what's in the way.

Who's licensed for what
Florida Statutes 489.105 defines an underground utility and excavation contractor as one who builds and repairs main sewer, water and storm sewer systems and the lines from those mains to an individual meter. Plumbing and mechanical contractors' scopes include the excavation incidental to their own work. Ask which license covers your job.
