Lots waiting for houses
Chicago businessman Lee Ratner began developing Lehigh Acres in 1954 on land first bought for cattle ranching. It was divided into some 152,000 quarter- and half-acre lots with more than 1,400 miles of roads, and in 1997 nearly 90 percent of the lots were still vacant. The population grew from 86,784 in 2010 to 114,287 in 2020, and growth like that means lots being cleared for new homes.
County rules apply
Because Lehigh Acres is unincorporated, Lee County's vegetation removal guide applies: a permit to remove native vegetation and trees, and for single-family clearing of 5 acres or more. Ask the county about your lot. See land clearing.
Requests also come from Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Estero. All areas.
